Greek Independence Day Parade & More

The New York City Greek Independence Day Parade, hosted by the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Greater New York is one of the largest parades in the world to celebrate Greek Independence and diaspora of Hellenism. Not only does the District represent Ahepa in the parade, but every year the District organizes fundraising activities to support the parade and its various events.

The AHEPA District 6 Family participated in the 97th Annual Little Neck/Douglaston Memorial Day Parade for the first time on May 27, 2024. AHEPA had the only parade float which was viewed and enjoyed by everyone.

AHEPA Empire State District Six and the Manhattan-based AHEPA Delphi Chapter #25, upon the occasion of the Hellenic Flag raising at Bowling Green in Manhattan on March 24, reenacted the First Hellenic Independence Day Parade in New York held on April 6, 1893.

Annual Convention & Conference

In its 89th year the District 6 Convention is an opportunity for all Chapters of the District Family to come together in fellowship and service. Each Chapter is eligible to send 6 delegates to represent their Brothers & Sisters.

The agenda of the annual convention includes officer elections, budgetary, planetary, and committee reports. A Scholarship Awards Luncheon is also held to present the District 6 winners. All Ahepa Family, Daughters, Maids, and Sons have representatives and conduct their own sessions and panels.

Each year a Chapter takes on the responsibility of organizing and hosting the annual Convention. The most recent conventions were hosted by Chapter 77, Chapter 326 and Chapter 125.

Ahepa Service Dogs for Warriors

AHEPA’s involvement in the K9s for Warriors effort was started by Garden State Chapter 517, in partnership with the Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund in 2016, when the chapter sponsored AHEPA’s first service dog ( a beautiful black lab who will be named “AHEPA”) .

Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

K9s For Warriors serves our Veterans as honorably as they served their country. The lifelong program is provided to Warriors at no cost and is designed to deliver maximum benefit with minimum administrative costs. The cost to train a service dog is $15,000.

The Ahepa Service Dogs for Warriors program is supported annual by District 6 Through multiple fundraising and awareness efforts.
